SOUTH ATLANTIC REGION
The Significant South Atlantic Region ( SAR ) felt victory in the air , even before HBCU Impact “ game day ” arrived . Before Monday ’ s kickoff , the region and its chapters developed strategies using social media and texting campaigns , e-blasts , and virtual events to garner interest from
members and fans . On “ game day ,” Soror Carolyn G . Randolph , South Atlantic Regional Director , sent sorors a video to cheer Team SAR on to the CHAMPIONSHIP . She reminded them that it was the fourth and final quarter , “ when games are won , and legends are made .” Sorors and
donors proactively responded to the region ’ s daily social media challenge . The highlight of the week was “ For the Record : HBCU Edition ,” a broadcast on which HBCU students and alumni were interviewed . The region is home to 179 chapters , 21 HBCUs , and thousands of HBCU alumni . The region continues to exemplify excellence through giving on HBCU Impact Day .
GREAT LAKES REGION
The fourth year of the HBCU Impact Day came with a strong challenge from Great Lakes Regional Director Soror Carrie J . Clark . Using the football analogy in a video challenge on social media , Soror Clark motivated sorors by recording the challenge on the campus of Central State University , an HBCU in Wilberforce , Ohio . Flanked by a soror from Central State on one side and a soror from Wilberforce University on the other , and standing in front of the football field , Soror Clark told members of the region that the “ game is on the line ” to ensure that Alpha Kappa Alpha raised $ 1 million in 1 day . Sorors responded by donating more in the single-day giving than in each of the previous years . This year the Great Lakes Region raised over $ 158,000 . The giving was a combination of individual , chapter donations and company matches . Compared to the previous year ’ s giving , sorors raised almost $ 100,000 more in 2021 than in 2020 . Great Lakes Region sorors did a phenomenal job in 2021 and outraised each previous year in the Excellence administration .
