FROM
THE CHAIR

Dear members
The Annual General Meeting of ITSMF Australia was held on May 24th.
I was extremely humbled and honoured to be nominated and re-elected as the organisation’s Chair for another term - I feel there’s still quite a bit I want to achieve and areas where I would like to improve.
I’m delighted to be able to welcome the following members of my Executive team – ‘our team’ really!
Janet Holling is the Deputy Chair and also the Conference Director – two big jobs, but as she demonstrated with this year’s conference, she’s more than capable of executing these assignments with skill and professionalism whilst making it fun in the process.
Harry Powell has stepped into the vital role of Treasurer – this is a strategically important position given we’re coming off the back of a difficult period. The future looks brighter, and I am quite certain Harry will safeguard the financial security of the Forum.
Peter Tonkin is welcomed into the position of ‘Secretary’ – given the legal framework in which an organisation like ours operates, the importance of this role is difficult to overstate. I am very pleased to have Peter oversee our obligations regarding things such as financial reporting and corporate governance oversight.
On a slightly different note, I would like to extend my personal best wishes to Rachel Seaniger who is stepping down as the Queensland State Branch Chair.
Rachel has done a terrific job and leaves the QLD Branch in a very healthy position. At both the
state and national level we owe her a huge vote of thanks. Thankfully she will still be an active member on the QLD committee.
Ferenc Varga has stepped up to take over as QLD State Branch Chair and that leaves this dynamic Branch in very good hands. All the best Ferenc – I’m sure you’ll do well.
I made mention of Janet as the Conference Director; well we’re off to my home town of Adelaide next year for the first time and I reckon it’s going to be great. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as we proceed, but one thing worth mentioning is that we’re already getting strong sponsor support. Of course this is off the back of the tremendous success of Brisbane, but one of the things that really motivated us was the chance to do something new. Hence Adelaide, where we’ve never held a conference before. Don’t forget to watch the video highlight reel of Brisbane 2022 by clicking here > itSMF Brisbane 2022
Finally, our revamped State Event program is proving to be very successful. Again, it was thought we needed to shake up the format and also lighten the workload of the State Branches. This seems to be working a treat and it has developed off the back of our Covid experience where remote or Virtual delivery was forced on us. Now, from those trying days we’ve developed a model that seems to fit with the Members expectations and wishes: a mixed Virtual and in-person delivery that is the best of both worlds.
Enjoy the magazine.
