Union manufactures highly complex extrusion systems designed to meet the individual needs of international customers
vestments, but has also highlighted the need for greater harmonisation between environmental goals and industrial efficiency. In the case of recycled PET, for example, Passoni observes how the balance between costs, technical quality, and regulatory requirements needs to be improved: „ For some applications it‘ s necessary to use materials with specific properties, such as high viscosity in bottle-tobottle recycling. This needs additional processing. It‘ s important that incentive schemes and regulations support these needs, truly fostering circularity.“ The company is also watching with interest the evolution of polypropylene, which is gaining ground in some markets thanks to its versatility and improved balance between performance and recyclability.
THERMOFORMING SHEETS: A MARKET IN REOR- GANISATION The PET thermoforming sheet sector, historically very dynamic, is undergoing a restructuring phase. After an intense period of capacity expansion, many companies are now optimising their plants to make them more efficient and aligned with the current demands.„ We‘ ve observed a natural slowing down of the sector,“ Passoni confirms.“ It‘ s
time to scale-up our offering, investing in higherperformance, energy-efficient technologies. Those companies with a medium-term vision will be able to catch new opportunities.”
FLEXIBLE PACKAGING: SUSTAINED GROWTH AND CUSTOMER LOYALTY One of the most vibrant areas is undoubtedly flexible packaging. Thanks to Tecom, a company
