MR SEVERINI , WHAT DOES THE ACTIVITY OF POINT PLASTIC CONSIST OF AND HOW IT IS DEVELOPING ? Point Plastic has always been committed to , and focused on , the development of advanced technological solutions that enable PET to face new challenges . Point Plastic ‘ s mission is to deliver solutions in the form of additives , masterbatch grades or compounds aimed at integrating specific functions into the base PET polymer during processing into a final product , in order to improve its technical properties . Among the properties of PET that our additives can improve there are the rheological ones that support viscosity , enhance the oxygen barrier effect , increase thermal performance , sealability , the impact resistance at very low temperatures , the antistatic properties or the possibility of foaming PET even at very low densities in order to use it as a filling material for wind turbine blades or in the composites sector . Point Plastic is mainly focused on the in-house R & D activities carried out by our excellent research team , in some cases supported through collaborations with prestigious universities and research institutes , that allow the company to always be one step ahead of the market .
WHAT ARE THE ISSUES CURRENTLY FACING THE PACKAGING INDUSTRY ? The challenges that the whole of Europe , more than other regions , is currently facing are related to the combination of the global need to reduce the impact on the ecosystem of incorrect end-of-life packaging management and the new European legislation that , more than others , require the entire packaging supply chain to accelerate the transition from a linear recycling economy to a circular recycling economy , in order to significantly reduce the use of virgin raw materials and at the same time increase the use of post-consumer recycled material . www . plastmagazine . it
