ISMR : Please highlight any successes and achievements , as well as any significant targets reached , over the past two years .
MM : The last two years have been great for our machine-tool business . We enjoyed an exceptional order intake and very good sales . We have also succeeded in strengthening our portfolio in the entry-level machine segment .
At the EuroBLECH 2022 exhibition in Hanover ( Germany ), we launched a new bending machine and a new laser cutting machine that are significantly more affordable and particularly easy to operate , keeping the TRUMPF standard quality and safety levels high . In this way , we ensure that TRUMPF can provide a solution for every customer : from a simple stand-alone machine up to a smart factory .
ISMR : What are your views on the current global business climate and markets for sheet-metal professionals ?

MM : The challenges that our customers are facing are varied . These include high interest rates ; inflation ; regulations on climate protection from government ; the expiry of COVID-19 subsidies and the shortage of skilled workers .
TRUMPF supports companies in the sheetmetal manufacturing business along the entire value chain with numerous services . Our connected solutions reduce costs and our automation systems help to compensate for the shortage of skilled workers . We can offer customers good financial credit conditions through our own bank . This enables customers to overcome the challenges that I mentioned . In these ways , for example , we help our customers to seize every opportunity .
ISMR : Which investments have you made over the past two-three years ( machine tools , factory , staff etc .).
MM : In the last fiscal year , we invested a lot into new offices and factories at our international sites . For example , we opened new Southeast European headquarters in Hungary a few weeks ago .
TRUMPF ’ s goal is to better serve the Southeastern European region as a solutions provider in the future , as we do in other regions . In our new demonstration factory close to Budapest , we show our customers digitally networked lasers and machines that many industrial sectors use to process their components .
We also invest particularly heavily into
research and development . This ensures that we remain a guarantor of innovation and a technology leader . We invest more than every tenth euro of our turnover into R & D .
ISMR : Which trends do you see developing in global sheet-metal markets ?
MM : I see a strong trend towards more and more autonomous working

Launch of new fibre laser

High-tech company TRUMPF has developed a particularly versatile fibre laser range for electric motors and hydrogen fuel cells .
“ With the new TruFiber P fiber lasers , users can manufacture core components of electric drives and hydrogen fuel cells quickly and particularly reliably ,” said Mark Richmond , product manager responsible for fibre lasers at TRUMPF . The company presented the TruFiber P at the LASER – World of Photonics trade fair in Munich this June .
TRUMPF recently extended the TruFiber P range to include laser power levels from 500-2000W , with single mode and multimode variants in a smaller format to complement the existing higher power , 3000-6000W multimode lasers .
The single-mode fibre , which can be up to ten metres long , allows users to design their production more flexibly , as the beam source does not have to be directly next to the laser cell .
factories , completely interconnected and steered through advanced MES software that ensures optimal production planning and full transparency along the entire process . Tedious and labour-intensive operations can be increasingly taken over by robots and automation , such as component sorting .
