FACE TO FACE

The TRUMPF Sorting Guide supports employees with artificial intelligence in sorting out components .
TRUMPF sees opportunities in automation , software and more data-driven remote and predictive services .
It is becoming more and more important that complex machines and software are easy to operate because of the lack of skilled workers . Another important trend is sustainability , both for the companies themselves and for their products . In addition , partnerships with other companies become increasingly important e . g . automation solutions for the entire sheet-metal process chain .
We will continue to drive forward the most important future trends in the world of sheet metal , such as digitalisation and automation . We are also working on further solutions that support users with the help of artificial intelligence to make their production even more efficient .
MM : TRUMPF is the leading supplier and user of digitally connected manufacturing solutions . We digitally connect not just our own factories but also our customers ’ factories . For example , our Oseon software controls production and
With a press force of 400 tons , the new TruBend 8000 from TRUMPF bends high-strength steels . automatically organises material transport . Manufacturing therefore flows well and productivity increases by around 20 per cent .
AI , VR and AR are also becoming increasingly important . With our Sorting Guide , for example , we offer a solution that sorts parts with the help of AI . These technologies are rapidly gaining more importance as they enable automated processes and can therefore partially address the challenges of finding qualified workers .
ISMR : Are there any products / technologies that you have released or are releasing this year that you would like to discuss ?
MM : At this year ’ s Blechexpo , we will be showing several new machines and technologies for automated bending . We will also present a punch-laser combination machine that users can seamlessly integrate into their smart factory .
This Autumn , we launched a welding robot that programs itself by using a smart sensor . A range of entry-level machines are also now available for our customers ( in , for example , the bending field ).
ISMR : Where do you see the greatest challenges and opportunities ?
MM : We see opportunities primarily in automation , software solutions and more and more data-driven remote and predictive services . These concepts can support users in difficult tasks and massively increase machine uptime , decreasing maintenance costs . TRUMPF has a strong focus in these areas .
I also see challenges in the increased cost levels and very high interest rates , which make investments more onerous for our customers . Fortunately , we can support them with our financial services .
ISMR : What is your approach to Industry 4.0 and enabling technologies such as Artificial Intelligence ( AI ), Virtual Reality ( VR ) and Augmented Reality ( AR )?
TRUMPF ’ s welding robot , using Smart Seam Tracking , was launched this Autumn .
