‘ Silver Micron ’ award for Nidec SYS cell

Nidec SYS ( Grafenau , Germany ) was awarded a “ Silver Micron ” Award during the 2024 Micronora International Exhibition of Micro Technology and Precision held in Besançon , France . The 2024 Microns d ’ Or awards were open to all exhibitors at Micronora who were unveiling relevant innovations presented for the first time at the show .
Nidec SYS was awarded a Silver Micron for the introduction of its In-line Vision Cut and Weld Cell . The stand-alone compact vision system is positioned between the press and the coil re-winder . It automatically recognizes nok parts by detecting the geometry using artificial vision . The unit then cuts the portion of strip containing the defective part and joins the strip together , without interrupting the press . Nidec SYS is part of the Nidec Press & Automation integrated group of companies

4D _ Additive with new functionalities

The updated version of universal 3D printing software , 4D _ Additive , with new support structures for metal printing , will be released in January 2025 . Software specialist , CoreTechnologie , has focused on innovative support structures for metal printing that are easy to apply and that minimise rework on the printed parts .
Simplified creation of SLM supports
“ The user-friendliness of the 4D _ Additive software has been significantly increased thanks to tree-like support structures with limited space requirements and analysis for an automatic assignment of the various support areas ,” said CoreTechnologie .
“ To make work easier for users , stronger supports are automatically generated for the deepest points and for the connection between merging areas . Depending upon the orientation of the component , the areas are automatically marked and allow the user to analyse them in advance . The degree of automation is increased by the new analysis function and even less experienced users can reliably create functional support structures for metal printing ,” it added .
An accent on quality
“ To improve the quality of other downskin areas , tree structures are created whose connection points with the component

have less contact area , therefore reducing expensive and time-consuming rework . Another major advantage of tree structures is that they generate less contact surface on the building platform , as the branches grow upwards on some central trunks ,” outlined the software specialist .
Contact points on the parts and the tree branches can be deleted or added if the user wishes to change the automatically generated support structures .
The 4D _ Additive software suite is compatible with all major 3D printers and printing processes , said the manufacturer .
It offers advanced nesting functions tailored for SLS and MJF printers , alongside tools for generating textures and lattice structures . These features enable the creation of lightweight components and other specialised designs . By consolidating the entire workflow for various printing methods and applications , 4D _ Additive streamlines operations into a single , comprehensive software package .
