PRODUCT REVIEWS
the station availability . OPS software allows FSL to work with different strategies ( minimum scrap , maximum combination of kits or orders etc .), precisely monitoring the production list progress and reducing waste ,” it continued .
The S4 . G4 is Salvagnini ’ s new punchingshearing machine presented at EuroBLECH for the first time . It features a multi-press head and integrated shear as well as evolved hybrid actuators ( to reduce average consumption by up to a reported 20 %).
“ It can house up to 117 tools in B , C-type stations ( maximum force 20 tons ) and D-type stations ( maximum force 30 tons ) with a 9mm punch sharpening margin . The clearance between the upper and lower part of the head is 18mm , extending its field of application . To maximise versatility , the head can have up to ten hollow cylinders to use as lower cylinders or traditional punching stations . This head can also house multitools for forming . A patented optic tool stroke control system extends the range of jobs available including offsets , ribbing and tapping ,” explained Salvagnini .
An optional tapping unit , which can hold up to six different tools , can be installed on the punching head side to further increase the system application fields without reducing the multi-press head ’ s tooling capacity . To ensure full production traceability , three optional devices are available for labelling , ink printing or laser marking of the machined parts in cycle . S4 . G4 is programmed using STREAMPUNCH , the software in the STREAM suite devoted to punching technologies .
The MC Cartesian manipulator is used to stack parts of different shapes , sizes and weights with different strategies , according to need . Stacking sequences are programmed with NEXUS software for automatic sorting devices .
The P4-2520 panel bender , which completed the FSL line on display at EuroBLECH , can bend parts of up to
Thick turret tooling on the S4 . G4 punch-shear .
2500mm long and 1524mm wide , reaching a maximum bending height of 203mm . The Generation 4 panelbender also features new servo-electric actuators that exploit advanced hybrid technology . In the new version presented in Hanover , STREAMBEND software was used to program CUT profiles in three different ways : manual , automatic and nest mode . OPS , modular production management software , guides integrated and complex systems with high automation levels .
EuroBLECH was also the world premiere of FLOW , the MOM ( Manufacturing Operations Management ) solution that Salvagnini has designed and developed to increase process efficiency , starting from line processing . It is used to select between three production strategies , selected simply from the FACE HMI : straight line production ( direct flow ), line production with dynamic buffering and production with kit re-ordering to restore the sequence of parts leaving the system .
New panel bender and services
The new P2 1620 panel bender .
P2 is one of Salvagnini ’ s most successful panel benders . EuroBLECH 2024 in Hanover was the showcase for the global preview of its new P2 size 1620 . This is in addition to the four available models and completes its range of P2 compact panel benders .
“ The new P2-1620 panel bender offers many of the options already available for larger cutting models such as CLA , RSU and DPM tools . It can bend 3.2mm-thick sheet metal of up to 1000mm long , while for 1000- 1600mm lengths , the maximum thickness is 2.5mm . The maximum bending height is 203mm , regardless of the thickness and length of the sheet metal . It combines productivity , with its automatic bending and handling cycles , with an average of 17 bends per minute and flexibility with its universal bending tools . No re-tooling is required because the upper and lower blades , counterblade and blankholder are universal tools that can process the whole range of thicknesses and machinable materials . The ABA automatic blankholder adapts the tool length according to the size of the part being produced in-cycle , without machine down times or manual re-tooling ,” confirmed Salvagnini .
“ P2-1620 also guarantees zero waste production , adapting completely autonomously to variations in the mechanical and geometrical characteristics of the sheetmetal being machined , as well as to the external environment . Its advanced sensors measure the actual thickness and effective size of the blank , detecting any deformations caused by variations in temperature ,” continued the manufacturer .
Salvagnini also presented a modular range of services at EuroBLECH 2024 which feature three levels of service – ACT , PLAN and GROW – designed to meet customers ’ needs and requirements from initial contact with the company right through to the end of the system ’ s service life .
A sustainable future
At EuroBLECH , the consumption of all the systems on the Salvagnini stand as well as even single machine programs ( a new world premiere ) was measured by Impacts software . This measures the consumption of electricity , compressed air and assist gas in Salvagnini systems .
“ It is the first step towards calculating volumes of CO 2 equivalent to each single manufactured component . The way Impacts aggregates data depends upon the services used to view them : FACE , the Salvagnini HMI interface for the whole product range , and LINKS , the Salvagnini IoT solution that monitors system performance , or an OPC UA interface . Impacts is a flexible product that can customise data collection according to specific needs ,” concluded Salvagnini . n
