PRODUCT REVIEWS

At EuroBLECH 2024 in Hanover , Germany , Italian sheet metal specialist Salvagnini presented the new Generation 4 ( G4 ) of its entire range of technologies ( machinery , automation , software and services ).
“ They are designed for improving simple use and repeatability of jobs , eliminating low added-value activities , reducing lead times and optimising production flows , for lower product costs and increasingly high business competitiveness ,” it told ISMR .
On its booth in Hall 11 , with multi-level automations , two different factory set-ups were on show operating with different production strategies . The company ’ s multilevel automation solutions are applied to both individual production steps and to eliminate low added-value activities and bottlenecks .

Fourth generation ( G4 ) technologies

New L3 . G4 and Flexible Job Shop
On the company ’ s booth at EuroBLECH , a Flexible Smart Job Shop on display featured the combination of three different stand-alone systems ( able to work together , when required ) to manage convergent production jobs . The various systems are connected through the software , as well as by transfers and AMRs . Flexible Smart Job Shop can also integrate an intermediate store or other machining stations upstream and downstream .
This FSJ consists of the new L3 . G4 laser with fully automated configuration , LTWS storage tower , MCU sorting device and belt transfer . Its distinctive artificial vision applications are based on neural networks ; P-Robot ( the application combining a P2- 2120 . G4 panel bender and a six-axis robot with new RVS artificial vision system ) and a B3 press brake with ATA devices for upper and lower bending tool set-up , equipped with new parametric programming .

consumption and achieves the typical performance of 10kW sources are just two of the key features of L3 . G4 . This is our new fibre laser cutting system , presented for the very first time at EuroBLECH ,” Salvagnini told ISMR .
All programs and nests with L3 . G4 are made with STREAMLASER , Salvagnini software for the laser world and part of the STREAM software programming suite . The OPTI nesting algorithm optimises the use of the sheet metal , minimising scrap . SAFE GRID automatically optimises part positioning on the grids . NEXUS is Salvagnini software for programming MCU automatic sorting devices . Its algorithms optimise grips and movements and minimise stacking times . The panel bending program is done with STREAMBEND software . MOVE software receives the panel bending program , generates the dimensions of the

flat part and the finished panel and uses it to automatically generate the robot trajectories .
FSL S4 + P4 line
EuroBLECH visitors also saw the new FSL S4 + P4 line in action . This line automatically produces different parts in sequence and in completely automatic mode ; it can also adopt different production strategies .
“ The S4 + P4 Flexible Smart Line ( FLS ) made its global debut at EuroBLECH 2024 . FSL analyses and interprets data and acquires useful information for implementing safe and intelligent production flows ; it communicates with the external environment and can work in harmony with other functions in the supply chain reducing scrap , waste and consumption ,” said the manufacturer .
“ The MD single-sheet , store-tower feeds the S4 punching-shearing machine . An MC Cartesian manipulator , positioned between the S4 and P4 , can unload and stack the parts , feed the panel bender and balance the systems by operating as a buffer when needed . The parts being machined pass quickly from one workstation to the next without interruption . FLOW , the line ’ s intelligence , knows part machining and through-times and autonomously manages
