Maintaining mental health is not a sprint – it is a marathon .

We know – we all know – about the value of exercise . And perhaps the concept frightens us a little because we don ’ t want to pedal a stationary bike for hours on end ; and because of the pressures that society puts on exercising a certain way , we have vowed never to join a gym . Proper exercise does not mean lifting every weight in the room , and it does not have to involve weights at all . A brisk morning walk works wonders for the body – and for the attitude . If you want to try something as hard core as P90X , go for it , but in the same way that not every pair of shoes fits every person , no two individuals need or can do the same workout routine . If you intend to exercise , find something you enjoy . the impact it should have , it is best if it is something you want to do – mind and body work in conjunction with one another . In fact , exercise improves blood circulation to your brain and other parts of your body . Exercise also regulates hormones in your body . One option is to try different types of exercise until you find the one you truly enjoy , then set about it in a moderate fashion . Stay with it , and you will feel and be better for it .
Acts of Kindness
Do you remember when you could help an older person carry groceries across a parking lot ? With the current situation , not everyone wants you to get close ; but you should not let that stop you performing different acts of kindness . Doing something for someone else – removing the focus from “ me ” – will give a tremendous boost to mental wellness . Think about how you can contribute to making someone ’ s life better . How can you participate in improving things around you at a time when we really need the world to be a better place ?
If you can , donate money . You can also give of your time . An increasing number of worthy agencies are figuring out how to utilize volunteer help while maintaining safe health protocols . Simply pick up the phone and call someone you have not seen or talked to in a long time . When so many are contributing so little by making noise , you can do so much with a quiet , deliberate act of selflessness .
Again – here ’ s where positivity comes into play - exercise should not be something you “ have to do .” For it to have
