Tim Campbell
Tim resides in Columbus, Ohio and has been immersed in the local music scene for about 13 years-searching for the best music the state/region has to offer. Despite playing everything from Death
Metal to African Pop music, he is a “Punk kid” at heart. He is currently singing and playing bass in a
SKA band called STREET MEAT. With experience as a local music blogger, promoter and (very novice)
recording engineer, Tim has spent time in all sides of the creative process, and loves to discuss the
process with like-minded people. Tim recently debuted in ION’s March issue with a story on THE
SCRATCHES and also features the band SKASHANK REDEMPTION in this anniversary issue.
Lee Hoffman
Owner of BUFFALO24.COM and specializing in liv e concert photography, freelance
Photojournalist Lee joined the staff of ION this year, bringing his exceptional photographic point
of view to our readers. He prefers hanging out in dimly lit clubs and getting as close to the
performers as possible. His love for music and photography was piqued when ROGER DALTREY
of THE WHO held up Lee's sneaker on stage while Lee was on an assignment for UNITED PRESS
INTERNATIONAL. Lee has since recovered that sneaker and moved into the pit where his main
focus has been capturing "the moment" in local music. He has become a fixture in the Western
New York Music scene where he has captured images of more than 400 different bands.
Lisa Sasserath Boehm
Photojournalist Lisa resides in the Lehigh Valley of PA. She recently joined the ION team and
debuted in the March issue with her photographic coverage of TROUBLE CITY ALL-STARS, and
brings coverage of SLASH/MYLES KENNEDY to this anniversary edition. She is an Office Manager
by day, Photojournalist by night; and mother 24/7. Lisa has a diverse photographic background,
but considers her true niche concert photography. Lisa covers Eastern Pennsylvania, into New
Jersey and Manhattan, she keeps herself quite busy between family and music. Artistically, she
finds herself happiest discovering fresh, new music and finding a way to convey the artist’s
message and essence through her photographs.
Gary Carota
Photojournalist and music “mover and shaker” Gary brings a world of experience to ION, both as a
photographer and as an avid supporter of his area music scene in North Carolina. Gary books,
produces and promotes his own shows and events--as well as running the social media outlets for
several, large annual concert tours. Gary has found himself in the photo “pits” of some of the biggest
festivals, tours and concerts, shooting alongside some of the best photographers in the industry.
His concert photography has garnered him covers on some impressive publications. He shares his
coverage of CAROLINA REBELLION in this anniversary edition.
Mark Myers
Photojournalist Mark (owner of MARK MYERS PHOTOGRAPHY) has been a “music junkie” ever since
high school. He counts as some of his favorite memories, MONSTERS OF ROCK in CANDLESTICK
PARK, San Francisco, back in 1987 and THE WHO and RUSH in Toronto. But it was the 1981 VAN
HALEN show at the CUMBERLAND COUNTY CIVIC CENTER in Portland that he first snuck his Pentax
ME Super into…and he was hooked! He repeated this again for the J. GEILS BAND show on New
Year’s Eve. Retired from his career as a Firefighter/Paramedic, he is now able to pursue freelance
photography with fulltime fervor. He currently combines his two passions, live music and
photography, and recently named his home studio HEATHEN HILL STUDIOS. Mark is a true asset to
the ION family
