Mark Uricheck

graduating from King’s College, Mark began a career in broadcasting, working at a local Scranton/WilkesBarre FOX affiliate, as well as various radio outlets within the market. He is an in demand Music Journalist
for several publications, but somehow manages to deliver his unique journalistic style to ION in between
his many commitments. Mark reported on the energetic young band GALVANIZED SOULS in our November
2014 feature cover story and has authored many features for our publication. He has a special
appreciation of the Blues that is evidenced in his passionate coverage of this genre.
Timothy Schumann
Texas-based Photojournalist Timothy hit the ground running (sometimes, literally) when he joined
the staff of ION last year. He is a staple at the various venues of El Paso, Texas, covering both local
and national acts that pass through the area clubs. He has provided our publication with his
exceptional photography of bands such as SLIPKNOT, KORN, JUDAS PRIEST, HEART, ENRIQUE
IGLESIAS, PITBULL--and in this anniversary issue, ZZ TOP. Timothy tackled his first cover feature
last month with his story/interview with the band BASH. His dynamic photo layouts are a “must
see” for lovers of concert photography.
Daniel “The Dagda” Johnson
Photojournalist extraordinaire Daniel is the owner of DAGDA PHOTOGRAPHY. Any weekend, you
can find him in the best venues around the Boston area covering both local and national acts.
Before joining the ION staff, his work was featured (and admired) in an article by the Editor on
the band LEAVING EDEN. It was kismet that Daniel join the staff! From the big stage to the dark
underground--Daniel captures the shows through the eye of his lens in a way that you can feel.
Specializing in available light shooting, he has become the premier “go to” concert
photographer for the area and recently captured the bands KORN and SLIPKNOT for ION’s
January 2015 edition. Daniel is pleased to share his “photographic point of view” with the
readers of ION Indie Magazine and ION is enriched to have him as a team member!
Chris Wurtinger
Photojournalist Chris is the owner of CW SNAPS. Chris is a frequently-spotted live music Photographer in the
venues around Wisconsin. Chris has been in the world of Multimedia for more than 20 years. He started out
producing, shooting, and editing television commercials, and this evolved into producing a TV show from his
home. His favorite subjects are local and regional bands—bands that have to scrape up every dime to travel
someplace to play a gig--and then get up the next morning to work the “grind” to pay for the gas to get to the
next gig…for there is a special hunger in that kind of band! He now shares his keen “eye” with the readers of
ION Indie Magazine.
Dr. X
An actual doctor, Dr. X joined the staff of ION last year, covering the local music scene in Wisconsin.
He is the singer/songwriter/guitarist for the band AMERICAN ZER0S, whose music has been
featured on 60-70 television shows. Their song “Capital” is accompanying this page. Also known as
CITI ZENX, he has featured such bands as THE BLACK SAINTS and THE GODDAMNS, and additionally
authored the January 2015 cover feature spotlighting the popular Rock band STITCHED UP HEART.
He says of his relationship with music, “Second only to being Gavin and Corbin’s dad, music has
meant the most to me and has always been there with me. The music I have written has been the
most fulfilling and satisfying thing to me--even more than going from a dropout to a doctor. I cannot
imagine life without music...music is a reflection of life.”
