Anyway today was another mostly calm and sunny day and our regular flock of Cape Petrels re-joined us along with a pair of Giant Petrels and transient visits by a Black-browed Albatross and a Light-Mantled Sooty Albatross. The chinstrap penguins, however, continue to steal the show, exuberantly swimming round the ship and barking at each other to make sure we don’ t miss them. The other wildlife highlight of the day was being passed by a group of fin whales – these are the second largest whales and although they were not very demonstrative they were an impressive sight.
