It’s also important to remember
that decluttering is not a one-and-
done project but should become a
routine. You can start by organizing
the small stuff, one space at a time.
Choose a place to donate anything
you don’t love or no longer use.
What about the things you do
need — but just don’t have space
for? You may want to consider a
shed.
While many rent storage units,
two Somerset companies offer
rent-to-own options at comparable
rates with the added convenience of
being on your property.
“One of the best ways people can
declutter is to buy one of these big
storage buildings and they try to
go from what they want and what
they need,” said Kasi Lee of Wildcat
Barns, a local cabin company which
also offers a wide variety of Timber-
line structures also a. “They keep
what they need in their storage
buildings and get rid of the rest.”
The structures range in size from
8x8 to 14x40, with Lee noting that
the most popular is the 10x20 lofted
that allows people to store “all the
way to the ceiling.” Wildcat will
deliver free up within a 100-mile
radius.
While steel lasts longer, Lee said

that wood is more popular among
her customers. “We can match your
house,” she noted. “We recommend
both, depending on your needs.”
Lee noted that decluttering isn’t
just a post-holiday or spring-clean-
ing venture. “These storage build-
ings and sheds really make a big
difference,” she said. “Only keeping
what you need really makes a big
difference.”
But you have to commit to it.
“I think it’s really hard for some
people,” Lee said, adding that she
recommends the effort. “I’ve been
doing it at my house, and I feel like
I can just breathe better when my
house is not so full.”
Good Deal Sheds are built in
Pulaski County through Wilson
Manufacturing, which began with
carports 30 years ago and has a 200-
mile service area.
“That was going along pretty
good,” owner Bruce Wilson said of
his Handi-Port steel line, “then we
noticed a trend that a lot of the car-
port companies also had sheds. So
about a year ago, we went into the
shed business also.”
Owner Bruce Wilson recommends
a garage for the family serious
about decluttering. While a con-
ventionally-built structure can take
days to complete, Wilson’s garages
