declutter

Piles of paper, overstuffed clos-
ets, and scattered toys. Clutter can
seem a way of life — particularly for
families in tight quarters. This time

of year, many families are also deal-
ing with the new gifts they received
for Christmas. Decluttering can
seem overwhelming, but the actual
process doesn’t have to be if you do
it right.
The first step is to involve the
whole family. Your decluttering
project won’t be as successful as
a solo mission. Start by having a
conversation with your significant
other, then get your kids on board
too. Making a game of it by setting
a timer for 30 minutes and giving
them a small reward if they can sort
through a certain number of items
