Terry Conder said his trailer
business started around 10 years
ago strictly as a servicing and
restoration business for all kinds of
trailers.
They still do that – working on
tires, brakes, fabrication, welding,
electrical work, axle repair and axle
replacement for every type and
brand of trailer out there.
He said that Big Tex recruited him
to become a dealer because they
were looking for someone with that
skill set.
Currently, Big Tex offers around
40 different types of trailers, from
haulers to dump trailers to tilt trail-
ers and gooseneck/pintle trailers.
Each one comes with a three-year
warranty.
“We meet the needs of the guy
that just wants to haul his lawn-
mower, all the way up to the guy
that wants to hot shot for a living,”
he said.
Dawn Conder said that most of the
time, people come in knowing what
kind of trailer they need.
However, “The little guys may not
know what they need, but when we
question them what they’re going
to do, we can fit with them with a
trailer,” she said.
“We’re a small company that deals
with our customers on a one-to-one
M arch 2020
basis,” Terry Conder said. “Most
things are old school here.”
That means working on the prin-
cipal that “the customer is always
right,” and helping those customers
in whatever way they can.
That might even mean a late night
emergency call to fix a trailer, no mat-
ter what brand. Or, an after-hours sale
in an emergency situation.

“We try to be available 24-7 for our
customers,” Terry Conder said.
They also try to be accommodating
for those who are looking to buy, with
no high-pressure sales pitches, he said.
“A lot of people like that about us.
They like that they can come up here
and stand under a shade tree and look
at a trailer and talk to somebody
about it,” he said.
In addition to trailers, Conder’s
also installs CM truck beds.
