Job Summary

The Human Resources Summer Intern will support the HR Department across multiple functional areas, gaining broad exposure to HR operations within a Tribal government organization. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in benefits administration, recruiting, training and development, employee relations, compliance, payroll exposure, and HR systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Benefits and Wellness Support
• Assist with wellness campaign planning, engagement calendars, and internal communications
• Create benefit education materials including flyers, FAQ sheets, graphics, and basic instructional guides
• Support wellness surveys, data collection, and summary reporting
• Assist with onboarding experience reviews and improvement projects
• Support compliance-related HR activities( Workers’ Compensation, OSHA, HIPAA, ACA)
• Scan, organize, and maintain confidential benefits files
• Recruiting and Talent Acquisition
• Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, and recruitment workflows
• Support interview coordination and job description drafting
• Assist with onboarding, ADP HRIS entry, and I-9 compliance
• Observe background check processes and job title updates
• Provide administrative support for candidate communications and scheduling
• Training and Development
• Assist with training coordination, scheduling, and preparation
• Support development and distribution of training materials and onboarding resources
• Update training records and assist with departmental learning initiatives
• Participate in HR-related webinars and technology training
• Employee Relations and Payroll Exposure
• Observe disciplinary processes, terminations, and exit interviews
• Learn employee relations intake procedures and investigation fundamentals
• Gain exposure to payroll processes and HR reporting in ADP
