MINEXPO PREVIEW

Building

world-class mines since 1962 .
Immersive ’ s advanced equipment simulation solutions for training heavy equipment operators will be on show at MINExpo
heavy equipment operators ; n Mine standards training ( VR and 3D environments ) – training for supervisors and other field-based roles ; n Performance analytics – tools for supervisors , continuous improvement teams and training managers ; n Autonomous training – training for entire workforces ; n Pre-start inspection ( VR and touchscreen ) – effective training for operators by using highly realistic 3D models and environments ; and n WorksiteVR™ Quest – safely training the workforce to interact with and identify hazards in the workplace . Immersive Technologies says it will present insights at the show from projects spanning 360-plus mines across 51 countries , ensuring there is something valuable on display for every MINExpo attendee .
Visualisation
AI is also coming into the realm of mine site visualisation with Canadabased PROVIX saying the advent of AI-aided cameras have introduced a new tool in the quest for making mobile equipment safer for both surface and underground operations .
“ AI-360 cameras identify people and vehicles to provide early warning to equipment operators of their presence and location ,” it explains . “ Audible warnings are provided to alert the operator of anyone or any vehicle in the programmable detection zone around the equipment . Simultaneously , AI- 360 cameras provide a computer-generated 360 ° aerial view image of the equipment for complete situational awareness .”
The split-screen image that comes with the cameras show all the surrounding area and the active camera based on direction of travel . Operators can view one screen and see a complete picture of anything around the equipment . A side benefit to AI-aided cameras is that FCW , or Forward Collision Warning , is automatically enabled as is the LDW , or Lane Departure Warning , for any haul roads with surface marking .
AI-aided cameras with person and vehicle detection will also now work in concert with 360 ° aerial view camera systems , PROVIX says . “ These advanced cameras will now detect a person or part of a person anywhere around a vehicle and alert the driver to their presence ,” it added . “ Visual identification is displayed on the in-cab monitor as to the location of the persons or vehicles detected in relation to their vehicle or equipment .”
PROVIX has introduced its tagless CAS for heavy equipment and light vehicles that include AI-aided 360 ° cameras to detect both personnel and vehicles in close proximity . When a person is detected in the danger zone , the PROVIX system can autonomously stop the vehicle .
Each system is programmed to establish two user-defined zones . The first zone ( Warning Zone ) provides an audible and visual warning to the operator
