When we started our business in Japan we were not very well known.
Our products weren’t listed with the 108 major Japanese industries and like
the movie industry, we just played ‘supporting roles’ in the manufacturing
industry. Today we are like a main feature film and our electric blowers and
industrial fans, are now registered as one of the star industries of Japan.
Five years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Bangkok. I like the beauty of
Thai temples and the natural environment of Thailand. I visited a customer’s
factory in Chonburi that manufactures automotive equipment. A business
contract was made but the warranty was only effective for that Japan.
I witnessed the growth of domestic industry and found that nearly 40%
of the products that we sell in Japan were exported overseas. I then had
the idea to set up a factory in Thailand. This provides better customer
relations and increases the likelihood of stronger sales. That was the
beginning of Showa Denki Thailand.
In my opinion, doing business in Thailand is very important. Investors
need to become familiar with Thai culture and adapt to customer needs.
The last major flood in Thailand affected many of our clients. Some of
our customers asked our competitors for help but they could not deliver.
Fortunately Showa Denki was on the spot and was able to be of immediate
assistance. Since then we have gained greater customer confidence and
our products and service is widel H\
