HEALTH + WELLNESS
Chloe Thomas
If you are a mother , bear in mind that you are your child or children ’ s role model - you are setting an example for your children and I am sure you want them to wear what they want , so you should too ; children pick up on insecurities and are always going to prefer making memories with you rather than hearing you worry about cellulite ( which is normal , FYI !). Leading on from this , remember that every body deserves love and respect . How would you want your best friend or child to talk to themselves ? Give your inner child the same love by following these simple steps :
1 . Embrace the art of gratitude . Be grateful every day that you have your health and an amazing body !
2 . Dress in a way that fits your unique shape and personality .
3 . Stop measuring your worth by the numbers on the scales . You are worth more than this ! 4 . Surround yourself with positivity . 5 . Practise positive self-talk and lean more into the acceptance of it . From there , you can discover parts of yourself that you truly love . My favourite affirmation is : “ I am who I am , and that is enough !”
It ’ s never going to do you any harm to look at your diet and work towards consuming more whole foods and less processed foods , which will help you lose weight if you ’ d like to , but will mainly keep you feeling energised and healthy . Aim to eat foods with minimal ingredients , which means they are less processed , and try to drink two litres of water daily over the summer period to keep your digestion good and reduce brain fog and headaches .
Allow yourself to indulge in foods that are less healthy , but do it in moderation . It ’ s okay to enjoy a dessert or a special meal ! A great idea when it comes to diet is to follow the 80 / 20 rule , aiming to eat healthily 80 % of the time and allow for indulgences 20 % of the time , which really helps to integrate mindfulness into your eating habits and helps you avoid restriction .
When it comes to exercise , try and choose activities that are enjoyable and not just about burning calories . This helps you stay active while having fun . I would also advise to take time to relax and de-stress as high stress can lead to unhealthy eating habits . I also run local breathwork workshops in Tunbridge
Wells for women as breathwork can be amazing for regulating your central nervous system and de-stressing overall .
Lastly , I ’ d like to remind you to set realistic goals . Make sure they are achievable goals for maintaining your healthy habits and that also allow for some flexibility for enjoyment over the summer .
Chloe ’ s guide to low-intensity steady-state ( LISS ) exercise and how this can be done in and around Kent .
One of the things I hear most from clients is that they fear embarking on a healthy exercise regime because they think it involves hours pounding the streets or the treadmill alongside complicated high-impact classes , which can be overwhelming and damaging to joints if not done properly . I ’ d like to introduce you to LISS , which stands for low-intensity steady-state and is a form of aerobic exercise that involves maintaining a consistent , moderate pace for an extended period . This is not the same as high-intensity interval training ( HIIT ) that many people do , and is a gentler and more sustainable approach to
