NO MATTER OUR AGE , MINDSET OR LIFE EXPERIENCE , IT IS STILL VERY COMMON FOR WOMEN ( AND MEN !) TO BE GRIPPED BY THE FEAR OF WARM WEATHER EQUALING LESS CLOTHING EQUALING AN INSANE PURSUIT OF ‘ THE SUMMER BODY ’. ALTHOUGH WE KNOW THIS OUTDATED CLAPTRAP IS SIMPLY A DECADES ’ LONG HANGOVER FROM 90 ’ S MEDIA DOING US A DISSERVICE WITH ALMOST EVERY ONE OF THEIR MAGAZINE COVERS SCRUTINISING WOMEN ’ S BODIES PARTICULARLY , MANY OF US ARE STILL ‘ TRAPPED ’ BY OUTDATED MYTHS SURROUNDING DIETS , DIET CULTURE AND FITNESS , TOO .
In this feature , like a breath of fresh air backed by an incredible amount of knowledge and personal strength , we ’ re going to blow that apart , once and for all , with expert opinion from Chloe Thomas , a former catwalk model turned fitness and health coach who struggled with anorexia and subsequent depression for years , but who has transformed her health and saved her life through fitness .
Using her ideas and tips about nutrition , mindset and exercise , and what the notion of a health regime and healthy living means in 2024 , Chloe shares her top tips and ideas to show that it ’ s feasible for everybody - no matter what size or shape - to ‘ rescue ’ themselves from pressure and enjoy summer with a happy , healthy attitude . A lot of women really suffer around summer time with body confidence and feeling insecure . Having been a women ’ s nutrition , fitness and mindset coach for eight years now , I see this a lot in my clients and I have many tips and methods to help them overcome this . I work with women to transform their physical and mental wellbeing and I ’ m going to share some of my tips to help any women struggling this summer .
Firstly , become aware of the beauty standards laid on us as women . Remember , you do not have to follow these ! A lot of beauty standards are there to make money . Be careful who you follow online and if you are someone who compares a lot , it may be time to have a break or mute accounts that cause you to do this . It ’ s crucial to remind yourself that what you see online a lot of the time is NOT real . Working on your own confidence is going to be really important here ; working on self love from the inside - not just changing your body to make people accept you more . Remember , your friends and family like you for you , not for your body shape .
Always keep in mind that anyone ’ s opinion of you is a projection , which means it ’ s to do with them - not you . All judgement on others is to do with ourselves , so try and be mindful of that , and most people judge because they are insecure themselves , so when you are nervous to wear the shorts because of what people may think - remember this . You have one life and one body , so do not waste your life worrying about others and what they may think .
