Room. The group shares project ideas, gives informal instruction and tips and has great discussions. Bring your unfinished projects and join the group.
Mahjong Lessons are offered every Tuesday from noon to 3 p. m. in Edgewood’ s Board Room. You’ ll learn the official rules, how to set up the game and how to play. All cards and tiles are provided for this free class.
Move Up Project is coming this summer. CCM will be a site of a free innovative weight management study offered by the University of Pittsburgh’ s Graduate School of Public Health. The Move Up Project is open to men and women ages 60-75. Participants must have a BMI between 27-48, be able to walk without assistive devices, have a medical release from their doctor, not been hospitalized overnight in the past six months, and not actively receiving treatment for cancer.
During this 13-month program, participants will attend meetings with topics on diet / nutrition, exercise, overcoming barriers, goal setting and relapse prevention. Additionally, as a study participant you will receive up to five physical functioning and other assessments. All of this is free. You can sign up at the Library or get more information by calling Lori Kleffer at 412.383.1306. We do not have set dates yet, as there is a minimum of 10 participants for the program.
Wise Walk meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 8 a. m. in Frick Park’ s Lancaster Avenue parking lot for an hour-long walk through the park. Participants walk at their own pace while enjoying lively conversation and the setting of the park.

Intergenerational Craft Night is held at the Forest Hills Library on Wednesdays June 15, July 20, and Aug. 3 from 6:30 to 8 p. m. Craftspeople of all ages are invited to drop by with their favorite handwork project for crafting and company. Work could include knitting, crochet or anything else portable that you’ d like to bring. Crafting books will be available to learn more. All skill levels are welcome.
Game Nights. Drop in and try your hand at playing pool, ping pong or traditional board games and puzzles at 4:30 p. m. on Tuesday, June 21, July 19 and Aug. 2 at the Forest Hills Library. The Library is looking for gently used board games such as checkers, chess, Scrabble or other classic games for use in the library. Contact Jennifer for more details.

It’ s now time for parents and kids to register for summer reading classes and other fun events. Turn in your completed reading lists by Aug. 5 to enter our Summer Reading raffle. Sign up for children’ s classes at the front desk.
NEW( DIGITAL) SUMMER READING PROGRAMS FOR KIDS AND ADULTS
A county-wide eResource Challenge will take place weekly from June 13 through the week of July 11. One adult and one child winner in the county will receive a $ 10 gift certificate each week. Additionally, everyone who successfully completes all five challenges will earn a $ 10 gift certificate. Questions will be posted on the library’ s Facebook page and website. Participate in the library or from your computer / tablet at home.
ADULTS, ARE YOU COMPUTER SHY?
If you’ re new to computers or not as confident with one as you’ d like to be, sign up for a 30-minute computer tutoring session with our computer tutor, Carolyn Luck. Come back for several sessions if you like!
BOOK CLUBS AT THE LIBRARY
Are you an adult who likes to read? Well, Swissvale Library has not just one, but four book discussion groups for you to choose from!
The two eclectic clubs meet on the first Thursday at 7:30 p. m. and the second Thursday at 3 p. m. The mystery clubs both meet on the fourth Monday: one at 2 p. m. and the other at 7 p. m. Discussions are lively and fun. Sometimes we have cookies too! You can even show up if you didn’ t read the book!
Books are chosen by the members at annual meetings. Book lists and meeting dates for all four clubs, and extra books, are available at the desk. New members may join at any time.

And you want to volunteer on a regular basis, see Kate about scheduling hours( ages 16 and up). You will work with some interesting people( that’ s us!), learn some things about how the library operates and probably have some good times as well. State and federal criminal checks required; we’ ll help you sign up for them.
