We have a lot of summer fun planned for all ages, including Summer Reading Clubs for preschoolers, school-age children, teens and adults. With the Olympics taking place this summer, this year’ s theme centers around Wellness, Fitness and Sports. We start and end the summer with parties and will award prizes all summer long!
Did you know CCM is one of the local partners with Live Well Allegheny, an initiative of Allegheny County Health Department to promote health and physical fitness? In addition to a large collection of materials for healthy living, CCM offers a number of fitness programs including WiseWalk, Mind-Body Adult Exercise Class and Creative Movement for Preschoolers. ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, READ! When: June 20 through Aug. 12 Who: Preschoolers, school-age children K – 5 and their caregivers. What: Read or listen to books and earn prizes all summer long. How: Visit the library for a paper reading log or participate online.
FEET IN THE GAME: READ When: June 15 through Aug. 7 Who: Teens What: Read at least one book a week and enter drawings for prizes. How: Visit the library for entry forms or register online.
EXERCISE YOUR MIND: READ When: June 27 through Aug. 1 Who: Adults What: Read at least one book a week and enter drawings for prizes. How: Register at the library in Edgewood or Forest Hills for prizes.

Puppet Palooza. Come make puppets! We will have supplies for a whole host of different puppets. Held in Edgewood’ s Fred Rogers Children’ s Room on Wednesday, July 20, 6 to 8 p. m. Register online for this event.
Puppet Show! Light Bright Beautiful Puppetry will host a puppet show on Monday, Aug. 8, at 6 p. m. Preschool through elementary school-age children. No
registration necessary. This project is made possible in part by a Remake Learning Grant from the Sprout Fund.
Summer Celebration! Celebrate the end of Summer Reading! This family event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 6 p. m. at Koenig Field in Edgewood. No registration necessary.
EVENTS FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN
Way Cool Wednesdays. 1:30 p. m. from June 22 to Aug. 10. Come for games, crafts and activities with a different theme each week in Edgewood’ s Fred Rogers Children’ s Room. Geared toward school-age children. Register online.
Design It. 1:30 p. m. every Thursday from June 23 to Aug. 11 in Edgewood’ s Fred Rogers Children’ s Room. Each week, children ages 8 through 12 will tackle a different project. Please register online.

Pittsburgh Poetry Review Roadshow Reading will be held on Saturday, June 18, at 1 p. m. in the Adult Fiction Room. Come listen to local poets Ann Curran, Susan Sailor and Barbara Dahlberg read their works. Refreshments will be served. If you’ d like to read more works by local poets, check out the Pittsburgh Poetry Review at the library.
