KIDS AND TEEN PROGRAMS
Unless noted, all programs are in the Children’ s Library and free of charge.
Summer Reading Club Read to Me: Birth to Preschool Independent Reader: Grades K-5 Teen Readers: Grades 6-12
Sign up using Google Forms or in person. We track reading throughout the summer using a paper reading log. For every 15 minutes read, the participant gets a raffle ticket. We will have Raffle Bags to give out to our raffle winners at the end of summer.
ARTchives Every Wednesday and Thursday 11 a. m. to 5 p. m. You are art! Your neighborhood is your canvas. Join our Teaching Artist in family-friendly hands-on activities that extend our voices, visions and creations. Check the website for locations. We will be having local outreach programs throughout the summer.
Preschool Play Days Every Friday, 1 to 3 p. m. Join our Wee Build parties every Friday afternoon. We have preschool-friendly manipulatives to build with and lots of toys to explore.
Kids Clay Class Bathhouse Ceramic Studio Saturdays, 2:30 to 4 p. m. You will learn a full process of working with clay, explore creative ideas, learn technical skills and take a project from start to finish. Parents encouraged to join.
Youth Autonomous Art Zone( YAAZ) Neighborhood Print Shop Wednesdays, 3:30 to 6:30 p. m. Thursday, 3:30 to 5:30 p. m. Teens welcome. Come create and communicate with other teens. Learn how to design and print your own posters, t-shirts, album covers and more.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Design Time Neighborhood Print Shop Tuesdays, 6 to 8 p. m. Bring your imagination, your ideas, your projects! This workshop teaches you the computer skills to get your design ideas out of your brain and ready for print. Adobe and open-source design programs are taught. First-come, first-served. Bring a thumb drive or recordable CD if possible.
Job Corps Every 3rd Friday, 11 a. m. At Pittsburgh Job Corps, students receive the skills needed to succeed in today’ s workforce, at no cost to them or their families. Learn more and apply for enrollment. Get a headstart by bringing any or all of the following: SS Card, State ID, Birth Certificate, Immunization Records, Medical Card.
Rainbow Kitchen Community Services Every 3rd Tuesday, 2 to 5 p. m. Rainbow Kitchen provides a vital safety net of resources and services for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly and disabled individuals, people who are homeless and growing numbers of people who are unemployed or among the working poor.
Fathers Involved Now Every 3rd Friday, 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. A group by dads and for dads. Join us in building a support network and resource distribution system for fathers.
Zumba Every Tuesday, 6:30 to 7:30 p. m. Interested in a fun and upbeat workout? Come and try Zumba, a dance and aerobic workout that incorporates the choreography of hiphop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo with body toning and sculpting exercises. Suggested donation $ 5
Yoga Every Thursday, 5 to 6 p. m. This class is open to all skill levels and will both
relax and strengthen the body. Please bring a mat if you own one; a few are available for those who do not. Chair adaptation available for those who need it. Suggested donation $ 5.
Neighborhood Print Shop Studio Saturdays, 9:30 a. m. to 3:30 p. m. Do you have a family reunion coming up and want to print t-shirts, or a wedding and want to make low-cost, original invitations? No experience necessary. Reservations required: print @ braddockcarnegielibrary. org Free studio use for 15104 residents + cost of materials. $ 5 for out-of-neighborhood visitors + cost of materials.
Bathhouse Ceramics Studio Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 9:30 p. m. Open studio is ideal for those who want to work independently while learning how to work and create with clay. Utilize all the resources of the studio to learn to produce ceramic items ranging from cups to sculptures. All skill levels welcome. Free studio use for 15104 residents + material cost or $ 10 / visit, $ 25 / three visits.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Pittsburgh Chamber of Co-Operatives Workshop June 8 – 4 to 7 p. m. Learn about different styles of Co-operatives and what it takes to start one, support one and how they benefit the community. There will be a PCOC specialist on site to advise and provide resources, so come prepared with business ideas.

Puppet Making Workshop Saturday, June 25- 1 to 3 p. m. Saturday, July 23- 1 to 3 p. m. Join puppet-maker Cheryl Capezzuti this summer in making large-form puppets. Prepare to get creative and get goopy. All ages welcome.
