Every other year , Pennsylvania municipalities hold reorganization meetings soon after the November elections . The Borough of Jefferson Hills Council conducted its biennial reorganization meeting on January 3 , 2024 . District Judge Michael Thatcher presided over the swearing-in of Council members David Bentz , Joseph Lynch , Diva Mares , and Kevin Polick . Melissa Steffey was re-elected as Council President , Hilary Budd was re-elected as Council Vice President , and Kevin Polick was elected President Pro Tempore .

David Bentz has been a resident of Jefferson Hills for seven years along with his wife , Kerri , and son , Cooper . David has a decade of experience working with adolescents and troubled teens , and is currently implementing the innovative Chill Project at Chartiers Valley High School ( CVHS ). In his spare time , he finds joy in golfing and watching his son participate in various sporting activities .
David is excited about collaborating with fellow Council members and is eager to contribute to the prosperity of Jefferson Hills . Further demonstrating his dedication to the community , he looks forward to being the Council liaison for the Recreation Board and the West Jefferson Hills School District Board .
Kevin Polick is both humbled and honored to represent Jefferson Hills on Council after having navigated the “ priceless journey of campaigning .” His time on the EAC , Comprehensive Planning Committee , and Planning Commission has imparted knowledge and looks forward to continuing to serve and learn in his new role on Borough Council . Having been a dedicated resident throughout his life , Kevin has spent over 18 years coaching basketball , soccer , and has led both Indian Guides and Princesses with his children .
Kevin ’ s goal is to utilize the comprehensive plan to shape Jefferson Hills ’ future . He also aims to contribute to a five-year plan that will help guide Council on finances and envisioning the Borough ’ s evolving landscape . With growth opportunities ahead , the focus remains on making Jefferson Hills an attractive residence for future generations . As a third-generation resident , he acknowledges the Borough ’ s blessing in its robust public safety organizations . Kevin is resolute in his commitment to ensuring that Jefferson Hills not only thrives but also remains a beacon of safety and opportunity .

Beyond her civic role , she takes pride in being the owner of Elements Studio Hair Salon , a local business in the Borough for the past decade .
Motivated by a commitment to cultivating community bonds , Mayor McCaffery strives to strengthen relationships within the Borough . As head of the JHPD , she works to ensure they have the necessary resources to operate efficiently .
