PMEA Regional Honorees
Seven Thomas Jefferson students were selected for the highly competitive PMEA Regional Choir Festival :
Kayleigh Johnson , Eli Fisher , Aaron Reed , Lucy Spang , Darby Sandrock , Ryan Lucas and Cara Vereb .
Kudos to the district ’ s talented Pleasant Hills Middle School and TJ music students who participated in PMEA District Orchestra ( Darby Sandrock ) and PMEA Jr . High District Band West Festival . Pleasant Hills Rotary Donates Dictionaries to JHIS Students
The Rotary Club of Pleasant Hills (# 5207 ) provided dictionaries to all of Jefferson Hills Intermediate School ' s 3rd Grade students . Rotary President Lisa Hurley and Treasurer Steve Slater ( left ) dropped off the dictionaries to the appreciative students !
TJ Student Wins American Legion Essay Contest
Thomas Jefferson student Nora Kudis won an essay contest sponsored by American Legion Post 712 titled , “ Why is the First Amendment Important in America ?” Post leaders Dave Halpern , Thad Weidmann and Terry Choate also presented Nora , a junior , with a $ 200 scholarship check .
Jaguar 9th Grade Student Wins PJAS Regional Competition
Thomas Jefferson 9th grade student Sarah Greenblatt earned first place at the Region 7 Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science ( PJAS ) competition . Sarah investigated whether age had any impact on the ability to discern if writing was generated by a human or artificial intelligence ( AI ) via ChatGPT . She tested her peers and teachers and presented her findings at the competition at Baldwin High School .
With her first place in the Behavioral Psychology category , Sarah , who is president of TJ ’ s Class of 2027 , advances to PJAS state competition in May .
Jaguar Helps Steel Center Construction Management Team to National Second Place Finish
Thomas Jefferson student Conner Garden helped the Steel Center for Career and Technical Education ’ s Construction Management Team to Second place in the National Association of Home Builders , International Builders ’ Show national student competition in Las Vegas !
