The Summer Tradition that Keeps Growing
The work behind a smoother road begins long before the first layer of asphalt is laid.
Each year, the Borough of Jefferson Hills carefully evaluates roadway conditions, traffic patterns, infrastructure needs, and available funding to develop its annual paving program. The goal is not to simply repave roads, but to make strategic investments that extend the life of the Borough ' s transportation network while delivering the greatest value for taxpayers.
While many residents see paving crews at work each summer, the annual program is the result of months of planning and evaluation. Technological monitoring of roadways allows Borough staff to determine the severity of roadway conditions and prioritize projects based on pavement condition, traffic volumes, maintenance history, and long-term infrastructure needs.
The 2026 Paving Program was completed in July by Tresco Paving Corporation and subcontractor Mele and Mele & Sons. The project included milling, resurfacing, paving, and curbside restoration on several roadways throughout the community.
Roads included in this year ' s contracted paving program were:
• Ashley Lane from Chelsea Drive to End
• Meadlowfield Lane from Chelsea to end
• Chelsea Drive from Meadowfield Lane to cul-de-sac
• Majestic Drive from Wanda Lane to Terminus
• Oak Entrance Drive from Wakefield Road to End
• Peters Creek Road from Cherry Street to Gill Hall Road
• Redcliffe Drive from Driveway of 105 Redcliffe to Old Clairton Road
• Towne Hall Terrace from Wanda lane to cul-de-sac

Another summer has come and gone, and with it another successful season of Jefferson Hills Summer Recreation Camp!
Held from June 22, 2026, through August 7, 2026, at Andrew E. Reilly Memorial Park( 885) and Gill Hall Park, the nine-week program once again provided children with an exciting summer filled with outdoor recreation, creative activities, special events, and lasting friendships.
Throughout the summer, campers enjoyed a variety of themed weeks and special events, including Water Week, Tie-Dye Day, Olympic Week, Bubble Making Day, squishy-making day, a Wiffle Ball Tournament, Fashion Show, and the Chop till You Drop Cooking Competition to name a few. Both camps took a field trip to Premier Gym & Cheer, participated in Community Hero Day with local police, fire, and EMS, had weekly library visits with hands-on STEM activities, and took part in daily sports and structured games that encouraged teamwork and sportsmanship. To close out the summer, both camp locations came together for Carnival Day! The celebration included Breakfast with Parents( with donations benefiting UPMC Children’ s Hospital of Pittsburgh), bounce houses, carnival games, popcorn, and an exciting skate performance by Mobile Ed Productions.
This year also marked an important milestone behind the scenes. The Borough successfully launched camp registration through its new online recreation management system, CivicRec. Families were able to register and pay online through the new platform, which streamlined the process and provided a userfriendly experience. The transition to CivicRec was completed without a single registration issue, marking the Borough’ s smoothest registration process to date and laying the foundation for future recreation registrations.

The Borough extends its sincere appreciation to Camp Director Lauren Giansante, site directors Paige Krupp and Michael Denimarck, and the camp counselors whose dedication and enthusiasm made another outstanding summer possible!
Investing in Every Mile: 2026 PAVING PROGRAM
• Towne Hall Entrance from Old Clairton Road to Wanda Lane / Stevens Ridge Drive
• Wakefield Road from Beams Run Road to Meadowfield Lane
• Wanda Lane from Towne Hall Entrance to Majestic Drive
• Waterman Road W. from Gill Hall Road to Washington Drive
Thanks to a $ 550,000 DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund grant and overall paving project cost savings, the Borough was able to expand the scope of work on Peters Creek Road beyond what was originally anticipated. As a result, the entirety of Peters Creek Road was paved this year, representing a total investment of approximately $ 939,000 in one of the Borough’ s heavily utilized transportation corridors.
The Borough remains committed to maintaining safe, reliable roadways while responsibly investing in one of its most valuable public assets. As always, future paving projects will build upon this year’ s progress, ensuring Jefferson Hills’ transportation network continues to serve residents for years to come.
