The numbers on your home or business may seem like a small detail, but they play a critical role. Whether responding to a medical emergency, fire, or police call, first responders rely on clearly visible address numbers to locate properties as quickly as possible. A missing, faded, or obstructed address can make it more difficult to find the right location when every moment matters.
To help keep residents safe and assist emergency personnel, the Borough has adopted the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code( IPMC), which requires all homes and businesses to display approved address numbers that are clearly visible from the street. Take a moment to inspect your property:
Can your address be easily seen from the street? Address numbers must be plainly legible and visible from the road fronting the property. Numbers hidden by landscaping, decorations, or other obstructions should be moved or cleared.
Are your numbers large enough to read? Address numbers must be at least 4 inches in height with a minimum ½-inch stroke width.
Do your numbers stand out? Numbers must contrast with their background, so they are easy to identify quickly, whether mounted on a home, mailbox, post, or other approved location.
Are your numbers maintained? Address numbers should remain clean, visible, and readable at all times. Faded paint, damaged numbers, or worn signage should be repaired or replaced.
A clearly marked address helps more than just emergency responders. Visible numbers also help visitors, delivery drivers, and service providers locate your property safely and efficiently. Taking a few minutes to evaluate your address numbers is a simple step that can make a big difference.
A Direct Line to the Borough
The Borough has streamlined the process to make it easier for residents to connect with Borough staff and get the assistance they need. Residents see things every day that the administration office may not immediately notice, and having an easy way to share concerns helps the Borough respond more efficiently.
While residents can still call the Borough office with questions or concerns during normal business hours, the Borough website now features a Submit a Concern form, available to be filled out at any time. The form allows residents to conveniently report issues, request assistance, or bring attention to items that may need follow-up from Borough staff. Whether it’ s a park maintenance request, drainage issue, property maintenance matter, street issue, or another Borough-related question, residents can use the online form to provide important details and help direct their concern to the appropriate department.
When submitting a concern, residents are encouraged to include as much information as possible, including:
• A detailed description of the issue.
• The location where the concern is occurring.
• Photos or additional information that may help Borough staff evaluate the situation.
• Contact information for follow-up.
Once submitted, concerns are reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate Borough department for evaluation. Response times may vary depending on the type of issue, available resources, and any additional steps that may be required. However, each submission provides documentation and

The Submit a Concern form is available 24 / 7 on the Borough website. Residents can access the form by visiting the Borough homepage and selecting the“ Submit a Concern” icon or by scanning the QR code.
In addition to the general concern form, residents can also find a dedicated Winter Maintenance Form for seasonal concerns such as snow plowing issues, missed streets, road conditions, or property damage related to winter operations.
Whether reporting an issue, asking a question, or sharing information, these online tools provide residents with a direct connection to Borough staff so concerns can be heard and addressed. By working together and staying connected, residents and Borough staff can continue improving the community and addressing concerns more efficiently.
