Penguins MVP Honorees
Three West Jefferson Hills SD leaders were recognized among the 16 principals from Allegheny County as 2022 Penguins Most Valuable Principals ( MVP ). The district principals to receive the recognition were , from left : Pete Murphy ( Thomas Jefferson ), Chris Very ( Jefferson Hills Intermediate ) and Dan Como ( Pleasant Hills Middle ). In 2021 , principals Justin Liberatore ( McClellan Elementary ) and Adam Zunic ( Gill Hall Elementary ) were Penguins MVP recipients .

Thomas Jefferson was ranked No . 15 among 132 Pittsburgh area high schools by U . S . News & World Report for the second consecutive year ;
n A total of 64 percent of TJ seniors earned honors , high honors or highest honors ( cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher );
n Thomas Jefferson ’ s Best Buddies Club was selected Pennsylvania ’ s Chapter of the Month ;
n The Jefferson Hills Intermediate School ’ s TJ3D Club produced and sold nearly 950 Burgh Bus levels at $ 10 apiece , with purchases from 26 states . The club is using the proceeds to buy the materials needed to create a 3D-printed , life-sized LEGO go-kart ;
n The TJ Incubator Flexfood team advanced to the INCubatoredu National Pitch quarterfinals ;
n The TJ girls swimming and diving team captured its first Section 5AA Invitational title and were Section co-champions for the first time since 2001 ;
n TJ ’ s boys and girls bowling teams both won WPIBL South section championships and the boys ’ squad finished 10th in the state tournament ;
n The Jaguar baseball team advanced to the WPIAL semifinals and the PIAA Tournament for the first time since 2012 ;
n The TJ Cheerleading team finish sixth at the PIAA Competitive Spirit State Championships in the 3A Small Varsity Category .
