plan for the April presentation with the
extensive research and documentation
from the SF Science Seminar and NAIHS
Social Studies teams. The FBLA team
members were Gavin Allcorn, Lauren
Deutsch, Andrew Hannah, Nicholas
Karafilis, Ryan Lerda, Ryan McGowan,
Frank Morelli, Miranda Mozick, Lindsey
Myers, and Joncarlo Patton.
During an extensive question and
answer session with Thar Industries
executives along with the regional and
statewide attendees at the presentation,
the students not only answered with
detail and professionalism, they illustrated
the impact of application-based
education as it relates to the real world.
They demonstrated that by learning
how to effectively analyze and evaluate
evidence and major alternative points of
view, synthesize information and draw
conclusions based on the best analysis,
and reflect critically on the learning
experiences and processes. Having the
students understand the importance of
these 21st century skills was paramount
to the learning experience. These acquired
skills will play a significant part in their
future educational and career pathways.
In addition, this unique school-to-business
partnership has proved that, when given
the opportunity, high school students can
make a difference within the region and
across the world.
