District’s mission of Tradition, Pride, and Excellence in
Academics, Arts, and Athletics, the 2013-2014 Future
Business Leaders of America students made South Fayette
academic history at the state competitions in Hershey,
PA, April 7-8, 2014. Just as the band, chorus and athletic
teams are being recognized regionally, statewide, and
nationally for excellence, FBLA students have been added
to that recognition. By placing in the top three slots in
their individual or group events, 11 students are eligible to
compete in the national competition being held in Nashville,
TN, June 29 – July 2, 2014.
After regional competitions in December at Keystone
Oaks High School, 29 SF FBLA students were eligible to
compete in the state competitive events. The South Fayette
team joined 3,500+ students from across the state at the
Hershey Convention and Hershey Hotel competition sites.
The students who took part in the competitions included;
Seniors Jason Cillo, Lauren Deutsch, Danielle Druchniak,
Matthew Guyan, Broderick Haney, Andrew Hannah,
Ryan Lerda, Frank Morelli, Miranda Mozick, Jay Patel,
and Joncarlo Patton; Juniors Gavin Allcorn, Alana Blatz,
Karan Bokil, Jennifer Byham, Kirsten Chabalie, Tyler

For the first time in the history of the program in the District,
seven students were awarded 1st place, five students made
2nd place, one received 3rd place, one in 7th and two in 9th
respectively. In the true spirit of tradition, pride and excellence,
each time a student returned from the stage, the entire South
Fayette FBLA group including current advisors Mary Quirk and
Sharon Perry, and former FBLA advisor Shawn McArdle, cheered
and celebrated with the winners.
