April also is the month of the mandated Pennsylvania System of School Assessment( PSSA) testing. Students in grades 3-8 will participate in this high-stakes assessment. Secondary / High School mandated assessments, SATs, as well as Advanced Placement( AP) Testing( May) will also occur. Please encourage your children to get plenty of rest, monitor their activities, to eat a good breakfast before school, and to promote an overall healthy diet and healthy practices. South Fayette students have achieved significantly in student assessment measures, and we are proud of our academic success. The primary goals are not only for students to be able to achieve proficiency on mandated assessments, but also to be able to think logically, critically, and to understand how to solve realworld problems.
We cannot say thank you enough to our parents and community members for supporting our children’ s curiosity in a forward thinking school environment that enables academic advancements and learning to occur. The South Fayette High School’ s“ Alterations and Additions Project” continues to move forward at a great pace. It will be exciting to watch the final transformations as they occur in the months ahead.
Our 2016-2017 Operational Theme of“ Exploration and Inventiveness” continues to lead our mission and vision as we“ Think Forward” and encourage our staff and students to also“ Pay it Forward.” Please continue to support our South Fayette High School students and staff for their version of“ Thon” on April 21- 22, 2017, and the“ Glow Run” scheduled for June 3, 2017. Both events offer excellent examples of student leadership and“ Paying it Forward.”
Commencement is set for Friday, June 2, 2017. South Fayette will send our highly talented and capable young adults to continue their“ Exploration and Inventiveness” journey. Until then, we hope to see you on campus for the April 27, 2017“ Celebration of Excellence” and the many upcoming events.
