SHALER TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Shaler Township Police Department has 28 officers from the Chief to the patrolmen. But did you know there are 2 sets of brothers in the department?
Meet Logan and Branden Pilardi They grew up in Ross Township and attended North Hills High School. Logan previously worked for Pitcairn Borough Police Department. Branden served in the United States Marine Corps and later worked for the City of Pittsburgh Police Department. Both were hired in Shaler Township in 2023 – Logan in January and Branden in May.
Meet Luke and Jesse Meckler They grew up in Gibsonia and attended Pine Richland High School. They both studied Exercise Sciences in college – Luke at Kent State University and Jesse at Slippery Rock University. They attended the Allegheny County Police Academy together and were hired in Shaler Township in June 2025.
We are proud to have them working for Shaler Township and thank them for their service.
JOSEPH SHOOK HIRED AS NEW ASSISTANT MANAGER
On November 11, 2025, the Board of Commissioners hired Joseph Shook to fill the position of Assistant Manager for Shaler Township. Joseph was born and raised in North Carolina and served in various capacities in local government there. Joseph then moved to Pennsylvania with his family to fill the role of Assistant Manager in West Deer Township. Joseph began his employment with Shaler in January. We encourage our residents to stop at the Township Office and welcome Joseph to Shaler.

Shaler Hampton EMS recently kicked off its annual subscription drive and we are asking for your support. Subscribing is a great way to sustain a vital local community resource and reduce your out-of-pocket cost for ambulance service. Subscribers receive a 50 % discount on medically necessary ambulance charges not covered by insurance. The average charge not covered by insurance for our patients is $ 280, so the savings can be substantial.
