POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS
From the desk of Chief Tim Komoroski:
“ I want to take this opportunity to introduce The Millvale Police Department and the services we provide. We are a full-time time, 24 / 7 police department made up of The Chief of Police, a Patrol Sergeant, a Detective and seven patrolmen. We also employ a Police Social Worker who works from the police department. One of our officers is detailed to the Shaler Area School District as a School Resource Officer. As I always tell our community members we are a Community First Police Department. Our police department belongs to the residents of Millvale and stopping or calling if you should have any questions is always encouraged.
I want to talk a bit about phone and even in-person scams that we receive calls on a regular basis. No law enforcement agency will call you if you have a warrant or owe the fines. Please never give any personal information to anyone. Advise them that you are going to contact 911 and verify if they are actually an officer or agent. Most likely your local department will return your call and confirm the call to be bogus. I have, unfortunately had too many folks lose reasonable sums of money on these scams and not recoup their losses.
To our community members who are struggling with addiction or may have a loved one struggling, our social worker and our department can assist you in getting help with your illness. If you have failed at sobriety 30 times, you must try 31. The alternative is not an option and we know that you are in the fight of your life. If we can make suggestions or referrals, we are happy to do so.
Finally, please always keep your doors and windows secured at all times. We have an extremely safe community; however, there are always those who will commit crimes of opportunity. If you are going to be away from home for vacation or if a loved one is hospitalized, let us know and we will do property checks of your residence.”
Thank You, Chief Tim Komoroski
