A Survivor’ s Voice Reaches the Next Generation
On April 20, Stanley Praimnath— a survivor who was on the 81st floor of the South Tower when Flight 175 struck on September 11, 2001— visited Shaler Area High School to share his story of faith, escape, and resilience with students born after the attacks. The visit grew from a long-standing classroom tradition by teacher Eric Schott, who had used Praimnath’ s story in a writing assignment for years. Rather than joining via Zoom, Praimnath chose to drive personally from Queens, New York, to speak with students face to face— a powerful reminder that lived experience cannot be replicated by textbooks or documentaries.
Cultivating Creativity
Erin Remaley has spent 12 years bringing creativity, passion, and a student-centered approach to the Shaler Area School District. As the Art Department Chair, she collaborates with colleagues to advance innovative arts programming and works with the Arts Education Collaborative to expand access to meaningful arts experiences. Most recently, she organized the April Art Show at Ruckus Cafe, giving students a vibrant community stage to showcase their talent. A practicing printmaker and watercolorist herself, Erin brings an artist’ s perspective to everything she does!
Marzolf Primary Honors Beloved Custodian
This spring, students and staff at Marzolf Primary School wore gray for Parkinson’ s Awareness Month— and to show support for their beloved custodian, Mr. Chuck. A cherished presence in the building, Mr. Chuck works tirelessly each day to keep the school running and everyone in it cared for. The simple act of wearing gray became a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, a visible reminder that small acts of community can carry profound meaning for the people who make a school feel like home.
14th Annual Run for the Titan Trail
The 14th Annual Titan Trail 5K was the event’ s most successful year yet, drawing 323 registered participants— a record turnout— and raising $ 11,957.64. That milestone also pushed the event’ s all-time total past $ 100,000 since its founding in 2011. Every dollar raised goes directly back to students, funding the beloved Titan Trail field trip as well as reading incentives throughout the year. What began as a bold idea from a few dedicated teachers has grown into one of our community’ s most cherished annual traditions.
