14 SHALER AREA
Effective immediately, Shaler Township will be utilizing an online permitting software system called Cloudpermit. This system will allow residents, contractors or other associated parties to apply for all building and zoning department related permits and file complaints with code enforcement. Permits include, but are not limited to, residential and commercial building permits, zoning permits, dumpster permits, sign permits and contractor registration permits.
If you are a contractor performing work in Shaler Township, you must register with Shaler Township. The fee for contractor registration is $ 40.00 annually and the permit is valid for one year from the date of issuance.
To access the permit portal, please visit the Township website under Building and Zoning. Once you reach the portal location, Cloudpermit will ask you to create an account. Cloudpermit can be accessed on any computer or smart phone. If you don’ t have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone, you may come to the Township office and fill out a building permit application and permission form to allow us to submit a permit into Cloudpermit on your behalf. Once you have created an account on Cloudpermit, you must follow the prompts and instructions for submittal. If any items are missing or issues need to be addressed, all correspondence will be handled through the permitting system. You will also be able to message the Building and Zoning Department directly through the software. Once a permit is issued, you must print out the permit and place it in your front door or window so that it is visible from the street. The permit must also be within arm’ s reach in order to be scanned with a smartphone as there is a QR code on the permit that allows the inspector to access permit information during inspections. This new system is a technological update which is an asset to the community’ s residents, contractors / associated parties and Township staff. If you have any difficulties navigating the software, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance via phone at 412-486-9700.
