CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
INFANT MASSAGE CLASS
Engage in a learning opportunity
along with your baby at the library!
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 10:30 to
11:15 a.m. our guests from Achieva will
guide participants through massaging
techniques and feel/touch activities for
babies. This event is for caregivers and
their babies, but siblings are welcome.
Registration is required.
NORTHERN TIER CHESS TOURNAMENT
Join us Saturday, March 14, from 9:30
a.m. to 1 p.m. for the 47th Annual Library
Chess Tournament! Competition will be
held on two levels: the Junior Division for
grades K-4, and the Senior Division for
grades 5-8. The winners in each division
will represent the library in the Allegheny
County Chess Tournament held in late
March. Registration is free.
Please stop by the library any time
before the event to fill out a registration
card, or call us at 724.449.2665 to
complete registration over the phone.
It is important that we have the
participants’ names and grades before
the event. On the day of the tournament,
please arrive 15 minutes early.

NATUREOLOGY: AFRICA
The African savanna is filled with life,
including ostriches, wildebeests, zebras,
rhinos, elephants, and the big cats that
eat them. Bring your pith helmet and join
Tony Palermo for Natureology at Northern
Tier Library on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 5:30 to
6:30 p.m. This program is for children of
all ages. Registration is required.
IMPROV FOR KIDS
Theater games are for anyone looking
to improve confidence, gain focus, and
add positivity into their daily life. Kids
ages 6 to 12 years are invited to a free
workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5:30 to
6:30 p.m. While having fun and making
new friends, children will improve their
listening skills, collaborate with peers, and
spark their imaginations. Sheri Ward leads
this one-hour workshop helping children
learn to unlock their inner creativity in a
fun and supportive place.
No experience is needed, but
registration is required.
KIDS AFTER SCHOOL MAKER SPACE
Everyone is invited to join us on
Thursday, Feb. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. to
explore making and discover tinkering
through different techniques, crafts, and
activities. We will provide a collection
of materials and some basic projects to
make! This program is for children ages 5
and up. Registration is required.

BLOCK PARTY
Come explore our new block and
toys collection in the company of other
families! Block Party is a PA State Library
initiative aimed at encouraging the use of
block play for development and learning
growth in young children. The program
room will be set up with building toys that
encourage children to self-guide their
participation.
The Block Party will be open during the
following times:
• Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 5:30 to
7:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 10:30 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Feb. 27, from 10:30 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m.
This is a drop-in program so you’re
welcome to stop in and stay as long as
you like. This event is for all ages, and no
registration is required.
MAKER MONDAYS AT THE PINE CENTER
Hey teens! Join us at the beginning of
each week for Maker Mondays. Librarians
and volunteers will be present to help
create projects related to arts, crafts,
electronics, sewing and more!
Feb. 24: Wire Bookmark – Create a
unique bookmark out of craft wire.
This program will be held from
2:45 to 5:30 p.m. every Monday in
Northern Tier’s Pine Center located in
Pine-Richland High School.
