Construction is expected to take two years, with the new plant operational in Jan. 2018. New Treatment Plant Features and Benefits • • • • • • • • The second phase of the project is the Interceptor Replacement Project, which will replace and augment the capacity of 9,200 lineal feet of the sewer system’s two interceptors- the large diameter sewer pipes that convey the wastewater to the inlet of the treatment plant, that are now 40 to 55 years old. This phase will begin in 2017 and continue into 2018. The Authority also obtained two Local Share Account (LSA) grants totaling $585,000 and will be applying for additional grants for the interceptor replacement phase. To help further minimize costs, Peters Township guaranteed the Authority’s sewer revenue bonds enabling the Authority to obtain substantially lower interest rates on the bonds and saving our customers more than $650,000 in interest charges. Plant & Interceptor Project Costs and Financing P E TE RS TOWN SHI P N E WS Construction has begun on the Peters Township Sanitary Authority’s Donaldson’s Crossroads Water Pollution Control Plant Replacement Project, located at the intersection of W. McMurray Road and Oakwood Road. The project, at a construction cost of $17 million, will completely replace the existing treatment plant on the adjacent property originally constructed in 1962. The treatment plant, which is one of two owned and operated by the Authority, serves the southwestern portion of Peters Township including most of the Route 19 commercial corridor and currently provides service to approximately 2,600 equivalent households.
