PETERS TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

In any visit to our schools you will encounter talented and dedicated individuals who work hard to make Peters Township one of the best Districts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania . In this issue , we would like everyone to Get to Know Mr . Adam Swinchock , who oversees all technology in our District . In a year that has brought both remote learning and a new High School , to say he has been busy is an understatement , but we managed to get a few minutes with him to help you Get to Know Mr . Swinchock !

What made you want to be a District Technology Director ?
I wanted to provide learning opportunities to students that would otherwise be unachievable without the use of technology . My goal is to develop physical and virtual environments that will develop skills for the “ Four C ’ s ” – Creativity , Collaboration , Critical Thinking , and Creativity .
What other interesting jobs have you held ?
I have always loved sports and have worked as a Youth Baseball Umpire and a Sandcastle Lifeguard .
What is your favorite thing to do outside of school ?
I spend much of my free time cooking in my kitchen and barbequing . I also enjoy spending time with my family and my two dogs , Peanut and Jellybean .
What is your favorite new technology at the new High School ?
It ’ s hard to pick just one . Our Interactive Classrooms and the Learning Commons are high on my list . Each classroom has a flexible solution that allows students and faculty members to engage each other in ways that we were not possible in the previous building . Students and staff will be able to actively engage content using our Interactive AquoS Boards installed in our classrooms . They will also be able to collaborate with other students or groups wirelessly through the InFocus LiteShow technology . Content created using our 1:1 student laptops can be shared through this system for presentations or group collaborations . Our Learning Commons is truly spectacular . Each area of the space was built with flexibility in mind . Stadium style seating and flexible furniture allow for entire classes to work collaboratively on projects . Break out tables , collaboration rooms and tables equipped with large monitors will allow students to collaborate onsite and remotely .
What do you wish every student would gain from the technology at new High School ?
I hope they would all gain the skills necessary to operate in a world where the “ how , when , and where ” of work , education , and life are evolving at a pace never before seen . Having the knowledgebase , skills , and resiliency to navigate these complex waters will be essential as they grow into their careers . I ’ m proud to be a part of the team that brought them this technology that will provide our students with a solid foundation for their future .
