This event not only sparked science interest , but empowered students with communications and leadership skills since activities were student-led , teacher-facilitated , and appropriate for all ages .
Remake Learning Days partnered with local organizations to host handson , collaborative events that energized learning May 2 – 22 . The festival was founded on a mounting body of research showing that shared community exploration and learning improves students ’ academic performance and social skills , exposing them to a world of opportunities , interests and lifechanging experiences .
Since its start in 2016 , Remake Learning Days has hosted nearly 3,800 events for pre-K through high school students and reached more than 225,000 families across all regions . This year , Remake Learning welcomed the North Central region in partnership with BLaST Intermediate Unit 17 , Remake Learning liaison .
The nonprofit anticipated record attendance at more than 2,000 events , estimating 30,000 students , family members , and teachers . Festivals take place in 13 regions in the U . S . plus Uruguay , New Zealand , and the U . K .
NORWIN HIGH SCHOOL TEAM WINS PENNDOT INNOVATIONS CHALLENGE
Congratulations to the team from Norwin High School — the PA Department of Transportation ’ s 2024 Innovations Challenge winners !
This year , students were challenged to develop a plan for the replacement of an aging multi-lane roadway to reconnect previously separated neighborhoods and incorporate community needs .
Eight regional winners visited Harrisburg to present their solutions to the PennDOT secretary and a panel of judges . The panel selected the Norwin team ’ s solution , which would establish a green pathway alongside the roadway to provide communal space , diverse vegetation , stormwater management and enhanced air quality .
ROBOTS AND REAL- WORLD SKILLS : NORWIN ’ S STEM SHOWCASE RETURNS FOR THE THIRD YEAR
Norwin ’ s STEM Showcase was back for its third year featuring robotics , eSports , computer science , and sensory activities that engage participants of all ages .
