SUMMER READING ADVENTURE CONTINUES !

It ’ s not too late to get your child involved in Norwin Public Library ’ s Summer Reading program . The following are highlights of the second half of our Summer Reading program , but many more activities and programs can be found on our website .

Camping at NPL Saturday , June 29th at 11 am
Bring the whole family to enjoy an afternoon full of s ’ mores , campfire songs , a scavenger hunt , and several outdoor games . Bring a sleeping bag to be entered in a competition . ALL AGES WELCOME .
Nature Hike Tuesday , July 2nd at 11 am
Naturalist April Claus will introduce us to several live reptiles and amphibians . After , we will head over to nearby Tinker ’ s Run Park for a nature hike . Please dress appropriately for a creek stomp ! EVENT FOR CHILDREN ENTERING SECOND GRADE AND UP ONLY .
Traveler Souvenir Market Wednesday , July 10th at 11 am
Teach your children financial responsibility by ‘ shopping ’ with our NPL bucks . EVENT FOR CHILDREN ENTERING KINDERGARTEN AND UP ONLY .
NPL Classic Car Day Saturday , July 13th from 11 am - 3 pm
Bring the whole family to see a variety of real classic cars . The afternoon will include a DJ with music , snacks , and our very own car races . ALL AGES WELCOME .
O ’ Ryan the O ’ Mazing Clown Friday , July 26th at 2 pm
O ’ Ryan the Clown bases his show on coping with anxiety and dealing with failure through a very entertaining performance . ALL AGES WELCOME .
Read to a Therapy Dog ! Monday , July 29th at 11 am
Your child will build confidence by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog . EVENT FOR CHILDREN ENTERING FIRST GRADE AND UP ONLY .
End of Summer Reading Celebration Friday , August 9th at 11 am
Come and enjoy a sundae bar from local business McFeely ’ s Gourmet Chocolate . This is the last day to turn in tickets for summer reading prizes . ALL AGES WELCOME .

An Evening with George Washington Wednesday , July 3 at 6 pm
Dr . Bill Choby will visit the Norwin Public Library as George Washington . He will be speaking about his experiences as a young man in Western PA during the French and
Indian war . These experiences gave him valuable military training and successful campaigns during the American Revolution .
Archivist of the United States Monday , July 8th at 1 pm
Norwin Grad and 11th Archivist of the United States , Dr . Colleen Shogan , will be joining us for a virtual program . She will discuss the United States Archives and her duties and responsibilities as the Archivist .
Edith and Kurt Leuchter : A Story of Love and Resilience Tuesday , July 16th at 6:30 pm
Hear the fantastic story of Edith and Kurt Leuchter . Orphans , holocaust survivors , French resistance fighters , and making a new life in America . Told by daughter Deborah Stueber .
Snow Globe Making Class Saturday , July 27th at 2 pm
Celebrate Christmas in July and learn to make a snow globe . All supplies will be provided . MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS .
History of Kaufmann ’ s Department Store Wednesday , July 31st at 6 pm
Robert Stakeley from the Heinz History Center explores the evolution of the store and family from both a business and philanthropic perspective .
Trivia Night ! Wednesday , August 13th at 6:30 pm
Do you think you have what it takes to answer 50 general knowledge questions ? This will be a competition with teams of 4-5 people . Register on our website .
