Norwin Show Choir Raises $5,000 for HEARTH Shelter W ith their energetic vocal performances, the students of the Norwin Show Choir raised more than $5,000 in December for a local charity. Since 1998, the Norwin Show Choir has collaborated with the Expressions in Harmony Foundation to collect money for the abused women and their children at the HEARTH Shelter outside of Pittsburgh (www.hearth- bp.org). The Show Choir students worked tirelessly by spreading holiday cheer nearly every day in December while asking for donations for their cause. Thank you to these amazing kids for all their hard work and being awesome ambassadors for Norwin. Norwin Middle School Students Perform Disney’s Frozen Jr. Hundreds of community members experienced the Norwin Middle School Theatre Company’s recent performance of Frozen JR., a musical that ran from February 20 through 22, 2020, at Norwin Middle School. The Middle School Theatre Company’s seventh and eighth graders had worked hard since November on this, their fourth-annual show. Frozen JR. is a story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Princesses Anna (Natalie Amantea) and Queen Elsa (Julianne Kellar). When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. Joined by a cast of beloved characters including Olaf (Sarah McHugh), Kristoff (Andrew Brown) and his side-kick Sven (Casey Rose Colcombe). Loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. thawed even the coldest heart! Tobitha Sasso served as Director, and Ryan DeMatteo served as Assistant Director. Alexandra Dillner Represents Norwin at Choir Festival Congratulations to Norwin High School senior Alexandra Dillner, who auditioned and was selected to represent Norwin at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Choir Festival. Alex competed against the best high school singers from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, & Westmoreland Counties to earn her position as Alto 2 in this prestigious ensemble.
