SCIENCE STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS RETURN TO NORWIN FOR “SCIENCE ALUMNI” DAYS Norwin alumni who presented at Norwin High School on December 21, 2018 for Science Alumni Days. Additional alumni and High School Advanced Placement students presented earlier that week to students at Hillcrest and the Middle School. F ifty-nine Norwin alumni, joined by 16 current High School students, provided lessons during the eleventh-annual Science Alumni Days held December 20 and 21, 2018. Science Alumni Days (ScAluDa) are an opportunity for recent alumni to return to campus to share their experiences and advice with current students. These alumni are either pursuing a career or currently working in a STEM field. Science Alumni Day allows current students to hear from and interact with alumni who have already made progress into their STEM careers, said Mr. Matt Anticole, a High School physics teacher and Alumni Days coordinator. “This is a connection to advice, perspectives, and experiences that give our students a chance to imagine themselves in a STEM field and provides them with some guidance on how to achieve this goal,” Mr. Anticole said. Mr. Anticole notes that the first Science Alumni Day started in 2008 with only six presenters. One of those original presenters, Mrs. Kasey Pence, is currently a science teacher at Norwin Middle School. An elementary lesson provided during Science Alumni Days.
