Welcome to North Huntingdon Public Works
A Message from the Public Works Director:
In North Huntingdon Township, we are very fortunate to have a Department of Public Works filled with employees who take tremendous pride in what they do. Our Department consists of 21 full-time employees who are quite versatile and specialize in many trades including electrical, carpentry, masonry, landscaping, and running various heavy equipment / machinery. I am very proud to have been a part of this Department for over 20 years, and am thankful to have been appointed its Director last December to oversee this unique and talented group of employees.
Within our Department of Public Works, we are responsible for over 600 roads spanning over 160 miles of roadway within North Huntingdon Township. During the summer months, our crews are responsible for maintaining the roadways and infrastructure of the Township such as: drainage, asphalt work, roadside mowing, and landscape beautification. During the winter months, we are responsible for keeping our roads safe and clear of snow and ice. orth Huntingdon

In addition to our summer and winter road maintenance crews, we have two skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics who work to keep our equipment in top condition, a Sign Department that keeps our Township roads identified and properly marked, and our department conducts daily street sweeping to keep the roads clean and safe. Finally, we also assist the Parks and Recreation Department and its 4 full-time employees with ballfield maintenance, along with infrastructure work within our numerous parks.
In reality, this introduction only scratches the surface of what our Department of Public Works’ daily responsibilities are. Many new projects pop up monthly, weekly, and even daily that we need to pivot and prioritize, especially when dealing with Mother Nature or Old Man Winter. It is truly a privilege to lead such a dedicated and capable team.
See you around the Township!
