MPS Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary
Providing the Highest Level of Pre-Hospital Lifesaving
Care for the Residents of Millcreek Township
May 1, 2019
marked the twenty
year anniversary
of Millcreek
Paramedic
Service (MPS).
For 80 + years,
the volunteer
fire departments
of Millcreek Township have provided
emergency aid to Millcreek residents.
The increase in call volume became too
much for the volunteer services, and
recognizing this, the five volunteer fire
departments (Belle Valley, Kearsarge, Lake
Shore, West Lake and West Ridge), came
together to form a paid advanced life
support ambulance service. The Millcreek
Volunteer Fire Departments still own MPS
via its Board of Directors, with each owner
department providing one representative.
Millcreek Township has a high-quality paid
ambulance service that still adheres to the
volunteer spirit of service and dedication.
Crews are stationed at various fire
departments and are ready to respond 24
hours a day. MPS is a non-profit company
that receives no tax funding from the
municipality, and all revenue is generated
from patient care services and the MPS
membership drive.
If needed, all THREE emergency services
(police, fire department and Millcreek
Paramedic Service) can be dispatched by
calling only one number...911!
In celebrating Millcreek Paramedic’s
dedication to Millcreek township for the
past 20 years, we want to congratulate our
employees who have been with us along
the way. Thank you for your dedication to
MPS and Millcreek Township Residents!

As National EMS week approaches, Millcreek Paramedic Service urges those in our community
to celebrate, unite and inspire the men and women of our community’s emergency medical services.
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) was involved in establishing EMS Week when
President Gerald Ford declared November 3-10, 1974 as the first “National Emergency Medical Services
Week.” This annual observance continued for four more years and was then reinstituted by ACEP in 1982.
Around this time the observance of EMS Week was moved to September. In 1992 EMS Week was again
moved to be the 3rd week in May. The move was made to separate
EMS Week from Fire Prevention week in October. The basis for the
move was the majority of fire and EMS services felt having the two
events back to back hurt the effectiveness of each program.
It takes a special kind of person to care for others and to rise to the
call of duty each time they walk through the doors at work. When
you see your local first responders give them a wave and thank them
for their service because without them this world would be a much
different place!
