GRAMS AND UPDATES AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM If you are 50 years of age and older, you know that cars have changed as well as traffic regulations, driving conditions, and the roads we travel on every day. The AARP Driver Safety Program is hosted at the Millcreek Municipal Building throughout the year. First-time attendees MUST attend an eight-hour, two-day course (4 hours each day). If you have previously attended the course, you are eligible to take a four-hour, one-day “refresher course.” The course is open to all Millcreek and non- Millcreek residents. In these classes, you will learn: • defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules • how to deal with aggressive drivers • how to handle problem situations, such as right-of-way and blind spots • how to safely use anti-lock brakes, air bags and seat belts Best of all, those who complete the course can earn a discount on their auto HEALTH SCREENINGS AT THE MILLCREEK MUNICIPAL BUILDING LECOM Center for Health & Aging will conduct health screenings at the Municipal Building on the second Monday of each month from 10:00am to 11:00am. Screening dates are: March 9 April 13 May 11 Free services will include blood- pressure screenings and individual health counseling provided by a registered nurse. Also available for a fee will be a blood sugar test (two-hour fast from food and drink required) and a cholesterol check for (no fast required). No registration is required. For more information contact LECOM Health & Aging 814.459.4132 insurance. (Please consult your insurance agent.) Cost for the program is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. You can be a hero, too! Donate blood with the Community Blood Bank and help save your family, friends and neighbors right here at home. CBB donors give blood less than 2 times per year. If all donors gave blood one more time this year or if someone new donated one time this year, you could help avoid blood shortages for the patients in need in the local hospitals. The CBB brings a mobile blood unit right to the township building to hold a blood drive.
