Carlynton Junior High Celebrates PBIS Success Through Our House System

Carlynton Junior High is proud to announce an exciting milestone— our 7th and 8th grades have successfully implemented School- Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports( PBIS) with fidelity! This achievement reflects the consistent, intentional work of our staff and students to build a positive, supportive, and engaging school environment. As a result, we will be receiving a PBIS banner to proudly display in our building, recognizing the dedication and teamwork that made this possible.
At the heart of this success is our House System. By creating smaller communities within our school, the House System has helped foster meaningful relationships, increase student engagement, and promote a strong sense of belonging. Each House encourages students to demonstrate positive behaviors, support one another, and take pride in their contributions to the school community.
Through friendly competition, House meetings, and opportunities to earn points, students are consistently recognized for making positive choices. More importantly, the House System has helped shift the focus from simply correcting behavior to proactively teaching and celebrating what it means to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.
This accomplishment did not happen overnight. It is the result of a shared commitment among our teachers, staff, and students to uphold clear expectations and create a culture where everyone feels valued and supported. From reinforcing positive behavior in the classroom to celebrating successes during House events, every effort has contributed to reaching this important goal.
We are incredibly proud of our school community for this achievement. The PBIS banner will serve as a visible reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together with purpose and positivity. Great job, Carlynton Junior High! Your hard work is making a difference every day.
On January 24, 2026, the Carlynton Aqua Club hosted their 3rd annual Community Day featuring Free Store 15106. Free Store 15106 is co-founded by Donald Alexander and Mary Campbell who are both teachers in the district. Volunteers within Free Store 15106 work diligently every week to feed 190 students through distribution centers at Crafton Elementary and Carnegie Elementary. Free Store 15106 is run entirely off of donations and grants.
The Community Day was hosted during an Aqua Club home swim meet at the Carlynton Jr / Sr School. Carlynton Aqua Club is made up of close to 100 swimmers with 70 % of them residing in the Carlynton school district. Carlynton Aqua Club families plus visiting team coaches and swimmers helped collect non-perishable food donations as well as monetary donations. By the end of the event, Mr. Alexander had a car full of food to take with him to the elementary schools. Cash donations plus a matching donation from the Carlynton Aqua Club totaled $ 400 which will go directly to purchasing food for weekly distributions.
There are exciting advancements looking to come to Free Store 15106 starting in fall 2026. Carlynton 7th grader and Aqua Club swimmer, Corinne Coppler, is working with Mr. Alexander and Mrs. Thomas at the Carlynton Jr / Sr School to open the first Free Store at the Jr / Sr school campus. Stay tuned for great things!
Free Store 15106 is grateful for the continued collaborations within this wonderful community.
Seeing kids help kids continues to be very empowering.
