attending pedagogical and technology-driven workshops, and building their personal learning networks. Additional highlights from the KTI Summit include keynote speakers, Edcamp or unconference sessions, and a Maker Mania event where they got to experience robotics, coding, electronic and the design/build process among other activities. The KTI Summit is organized by the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Technology and Communications, which boasts a membership of more than 450 educators from across Pennsylvania. It is the goal of the summit to inspire attendees to return to their districts with heightened enthusiasm for technologysupported learning and embraces the ideas of develop, connect, lead, and advocate. C ongratulations to Wylandville Elementary School, which was recently selected as one of five 2016 Carton to Garden Elementary Award winners for the second-annual Carton 2 Garden Contest. The contest, sponsored by Evergreen Packaging and KidsGardening.org, is focused on helping to facilitate teachable moments through hands-on educational experiences in a garden setting and strives to provide educators with an opportunity to teach students about environmental stewardship, recycling, and re-purposing materials. “Your project exemplifies our mission to better care for our planet through upcycling and recycling,” contest judges said. For winning, Wylandville will receive an award package valued at more than $1,000. Each school principal in Pennsylvania is invited to nominate a teacher for Keystone recognition and nominees may apply to attend the Summit. Miss Sypula was chosen through a portfolio-based application. Attendees are chosen based on their demonstrated passion for education and technology. They are creative, innovative teachers who embrace best practices and technology integration in their schools. Keystones advocate the use of technology as a transformative tool to nurture the intellect, innovation, and imagination of students.
