Moore Elementary School held its 22nd Annual Punt, Pass and Kick Contest the week of September 23, 2013. This year’s winners were Chase Rosing and Kellie Bruschi in the 10-11 year old category, Jase Romano and Mallory Daly in the 8-9 year old category, and Colton Rosing and Sydney Zenkovich in the 6-7 year old category. As the Moore School local competition winners, these students qualified for the sectional competition that was held at Bethel Park High School on October 19, 2013. At the sectional competition, Mallory Daly and Sydney Zenkovich placed first and Kellie Bruschi and Colton Rosing placed second. These young athletes received medals for their performance. Mallory and Sydney will be notified in November if they qualified for the Steelers sectionals to be held in December at Heinz Field before a Steeler home game. Congratulations to all our participants and good luck to Mallory and Sydney! Brentwood Middle School Veteran’s Day Celebration On Friday, November 8, 2013, Brentwood Middle School invited twenty-two local Veterans to celebrate Veteran’s Day with the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. These local heroes ranged from WWII Veterans to those currently serving in the armed forces. Lunch was prepared for the Veterans by the Czerniejewski family in collaboration with food donations from local stores. After lunch, each Veteran talked to small groups of middle school students throughout the afternoon. Each student had the opportunity to learn from eight different Veterans. Brentwood Middle School was honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with local Veterans to further educate its students, as well as, celebrate the men and women who have served and continue to serve our wonderful country. Mrs. Werner has served as a school director for 12 years. Since 1983, the PSBA has recognized the contributions of dedicated local school directors with long-term service through the Honor Roll of School Board Service.
