MOORE STUDENTS GET A KICK OUT OF FUN SCIENCE LESSON
Moore Elementary 4th grade students explored energy transfer through hands-on learning with the district’ s new OpenSciEd science series.
Inspired by ideas from the National Science Conference, Miss Downey directed the students on how to design and program LEGO kick systems to test how machinepowered vs. man-made systems move.
The students then reflected on their results using Claim – Evidence – Reasoning( CER), building both their science skills and critical thinking!

SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
A group of Brentwood HS students recently attended a fascinating open heart surgery observation at Allegheny General Hospital. They observed an aortic valve replacement.
The students are interested in a career in the medical field and were exposed to all jobs in the operating room. The surgeon wore a Go Pro, so they had an up-close view projected into the observation room. An AGH staff member in the observation room explained every step of the surgery and is familiar with the educational background and job responsibilities of everyone in the OR.
Thanks to Mrs. Anderson for coordinating this great opportunity and experience for our students!
SPARTANS SHOW STRONG SUPPORT
Brentwood students and staff wore Pink to supporting breast cancer patients and survivors throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. # HerFightIsOurFight
